Alfred Ascanius Futter

Alfred was born January 1892 at Ferryhill, Co. Durham. Alfred was the son of Alfred Futter, born in Norfolk, and Mary Ann Gray of Holmside, Durham. They had married in the Stockton area in 1880. In the 1891 census the family were living at Ferryhill and in the 1901 and 1911 census were at 11, Dixon Street, Blackhill. Alfred was still living with his parents and was working in the Iron Works.

Alfred married Nora J. Walton in 1919 and had a daughter Audrey.

Alfred joined the Durham Light Infantry, becoming a Colour Sergeant, 158154. He went to France April 20, 1915.
