Benjamin Aaron Davies

Benjamin Aaron Davies was born March 13, 1897 in Hindley, Lancashire.

In the 1911 census the family were in Ferryhill Station.

Army number: 32830. Rank: Driver. Unit: Royal Field Artillery.

Attested: March 6, 1915 at Ferryhill. Benjamin was 5' 4" tall, weighed 129 lbs, had a sallow complexion, blue eyes, and nut brown hair. He was a miner. He worked at Chilton Colliery, Ferryhill, Co. Durham. Benjamin's father is next of kin, living at 6, Chapel Row, Chilton Lane, Ferryhill.

Benjamin was in France July 10, 1915 to December 24, 1918, 3 years and 166 days. He was demobilized February 4, 1919.

Benjamin's brother William Henry also served in the Royal Field Artillery. His brother Peter served in the East Yorkshire Regiment.

William is the great uncle of Joyce Malcolm of Newton Aycliffe.
