Robert Sharpe Wilson was born June 27, 1900 at Coatbridge, Lanarkshire. He served in the Cameron Highlanders as a sergeant in WW1. Robert later lived in Norton and then Aycliffe. He married the widowed Mena Waller (née McCormack) in 1938.
