Christopher Cree was born 1878 in Toft Hill, Co. Durham. He was the son of John Henry and Elizabeth Cree. By 1891 the family had moved to Evenwood.

In the 1911 census Christopher was married to Elizabeth Ann, with 3 children, Lydia, age 8, Laura, age 5, and Ronald, age 2. He was working as a coal miner in Cockfield.

Christopher died of his wounds February 2, 1916. He is buried at Sailly-sur-la-Lys Canadian Cemetery, grave II.G.159.

Christopher is an uncle of Thomas Cox of Newton Aycliffe.
