David Dickinson

David Dickinson was born in Kirby Stephen, baptized 22 March, 1893. His parents were James Dickinson, born 1863 at Kirkby Stephen, and Margaret.

In the 1901 census they were living at Union Square, Kirkby Stephen. David had a sister, Mary J. born 1896 at Stainmoor.

By the 1911 census David, and a Joseph Dickinson, age 26, born Kirkby Stephen, were boarders at 89, Craddock Street, Bishop Auckland, working as platelayers for the N. E. R.

David married Margaret Robinson August 3, 1912 and lived at Howlings (sic) in Aycliffe.

He was a drainer and attested 11 December, 1915. He was initially assigned to the 3rd Durham Light Infantry but was transferred to the 13th Transport Workers Battalion, Bedford.

On his enlistment form David has a daughter, Maud Evaline, born April 23, 1912, and Walter Robinson, born April 13, 1915.
