Edward John Duck, Sarah Jane Duck, Arthur Duck and a friend

Edward John was born 1893 at Thornley, Co. Durham. He was the son of Edward John Duck and Elizabeth Rowe. In the 1911 census the family were living at 7, South Street, Thornley.

Edward joined the 14th Battalion, King's Liverpool Regiment, Private 56310. He was living in Chapel Street, Thornley. Wheatley Hill History Club have Edward and his brother Arthur in the list of Absent Voters 1918, page 145 of their book "The Employees and Residents of Thornley, Ludworth and Wheatley Hill: Their Contribution in the Great War".

After WW1 Arthur married Jane E Smith in 1919 and then emigrated to the USA in 1927, his family following two years later.

Edward John Duck is the uncle of Arthur Wilson of Newton Aycliffe.
