James Walter White was born about December, 1893, at Stillington. He was the son of James White, born Fishburn, railway platelayer for N.E.R. and Hannah M and had 3 brothers and sisters. In the 1901 and 1911 censuses the family were living at Clarence Cottage, Simpasture.
