John Liddle was born 1895 at Coxhoe, Co. Durham. He was the son of Thomas and Margaret Liddle.

Army number: 2491. Rank: Private. Unit: 1/5th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.

John died May 24, 1915, age 20, at the Battle of Bellewaarde Ridge. John is commemorated on the Menin Gate, Ypres, Panel 36 & 38.

John is also commemorated on the Coxhoe Memorial, Co. Durham.

John Liddle is a paternal relative of Joyce Malcolm of Newton Aycliffe.
