Peter Davies

Peter Williams Davies was born 1886 in Wrexham, Denbighshire.

Parents: Aaron Valentine Davies and Tamar Williams.

Wife: Mary Ellen Hughes, born 1887 in Whiston, Lancashire. They had married June 6, 1908 in Wigan.

In the 1911 census Peter was at East Howle, Durham with his wife and 2 daughters, Tamar, age 2, and Edith, age 4 months. Peter was a coal miner hewer.

Peter enlisted October 24, 1914 and joined the 8th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment, becoming an acting sergeant 13793. At some stage Peter was transferred to the Labour Corps, Lance Corporal 573709, presumably becoming unfit for War Service, as amongst his medals is the Silver War Badge.

Peter was discharged November 14, 1918.

Peter is the brother of Benjamin Aaron and William Henry Davies, and is the great uncle of Joyce Malcolm of Newton Aycliffe.
