Sadly they had lost a son William, who died March 8, 1878, just eight days old. Also two of the children above died later in 1881. Margaret Anne was just 6 months old when she died in August and Walter was 2 years 8 months when he died in September. Minnie and Georgina are named on the same headstone under their married names:

Minnie married George Johnson who became landlord of the Eden Arms. There has been an article in the Northern Echo about George. George had a brother John and are descendants of the Johnsons of Merrington.

Georgina married Ralph Manners, who was the undertaker at Counden. These are Alf Manners' grandparents. Their son Harry, born 1901, followed them in their profession, but Harry's son, Alf, did not.
