Simon and Walter Fairnie

Simon Fairnie was born 1880 in Fisherrow, Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. His parents were Michael Fairnie and Margaret Clark.

Simon was married to Ellen.

Simon served as Skipper 891 WSA, Royal Naval Reserve H.M.S. Trawler "Renarro". The trawler was sunk by a mine explosion in the Dardanelles, November 10, 1918. Simon was 38 years old.

Simon is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Panel 30.

Simon is the great uncle of Marian Galloway of Newton Aycliffe.

Walter Fairnie was born 1888 in Fisherrow, Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. Brother of Simon above.

Walter married Mary Devlin.

Army number: S/2361. Rank: Private. Unit: 8th Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders.

Attested: Musselburgh.

Walter was killed in action September 25, 1915. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Panel 112 - 115.

Walter is the grandfather of Marian Galloway of Newton Aycliffe.
