William Robinson

William Robinson was born 1895 in Ricknall, near Aycliffe, Co. Durham. He was baptixed May 26, 1895 in St. Andrew's Church, Aycliffe.

William's parents were John Thomas and Jane Ann Robinson of Monks End, Aycliffe. John was a platelayer. William had 3 sisters: Emily, Cissie and Gladys.

Attested: January 7, 1915 at Darlington.

Army number: 3/4 042326. Rank: Driver. Unit: Army Service Corps.

William was 19 years, 9 months old, and was 5' 6 3/4" tall. January 22, 1915 William passed his test in butchery at Aldershot and was assessed as fair.

William joined the 288 Company, 37 Division Trans. in France.
