William Storey was born 1888 in Consett, Co. Durham. He was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Storey. In the 1911 census the family were living at 6, Edward Street, Consett. William was a labourer at the steelworks.

William married Amy Williamson in 1913.

William joined the 13th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and became a corporal, 21151. He died April 6, 1916. William is commemorated at Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery, French Extension.

William's wife, Amy, remarried 1918, marrying George B. Currie.

William Storey was the brother of Edmund Leadbitter's grandmother.
