George Tweddle senior

George Tweddle was born 1896 at Haughton le Skerne, Darlington.

Parents: Thomas Tweddle and Elizabeth Ann Biglin, both born in Haughton le Skenre.

In the 1891 census the family were living in Coatham Mundeville village. George had sisters Clara and Mary and a brother, John.

In 1901 George is working for John Brown, farmer, at East Ketton.

In 1911 George is now working for Thomas Knox, farmer, at Coatham Mundeville.

George married Edith Collinson in 1913.

In the Absent Voters List of October 1918, George is listed under the parish of Brafferton.

George and Edith had 9 children: Lilian (Lily), 1914, George Simpson, 1916, Edith Emily (Emily), 1919, William, 1921, twins Janet (Jenny) and Thomas E (Tot), 1923, Florence M, 1926, Barbara E, 1929 and Mary E, 1933.

George Simpson Tweddle died in WW11 and is commemorated on Aycliffe War Memorial.

George's elder brother John Tweddle died in WW1.
