Bill Blenkinsopp has kindly given this receipt from George E. Horton.

Dated October 11, 1913 Mr Flower paid £2 14 1 for 11 pairs of football boots @ 4/11 per pair. Mr Flower is seated above left in the centre of the 1921 football team.

Thanks to Mr Alf Manners for sending copies from the Darlington and Stockton Times for August 11, 1860 and then later in that month.

Cricket in 1860

AYCLIFFE v HURWORTH - A match was played between the above clubs on Monday, August 6, on the ground of the latter, Hurworth winning by 13 runs. The following is the score:-

George Edward Horton was 35 in the 1911 census. He and his wife Eleanor were born in Darlington but were now living in North Terrace, Aycliffe.

AYCLIFFE v SADBERGE - This match was played on the Aycliffe ground on Friday last, when the former came off victorious with six wickets to fall. They afterwards adjourned in the home of Mr B.
